CNC Milling process is a manufacturing process that uses computer-controlled milling machines to process workpieces.
principle
The milling machine cuts the material by rotating the milling cutter and making a motion relative to the workpiece, which in CNC milling is precisely controlled by a computer program.
Main equipment
CNC milling machine: Its structure includes bed, milling head, table and other parts, can achieve multi-axis linkage, such as the common three-axis linkage (X, Y, Z axis) can process complex three-dimensional shapes.
- Milling cutter: various types, such as end milling cutter for processing planes, sides, contours, etc.; Ball end milling cutter is suitable for machining curved surfaces.
Processing step
1. Design drawings: Use CAD software to design the 3D model of the workpiece and determine the shape, size and other parameters.
2. Generate program: Import CAD model into CAM software, set tool path, cutting parameters, etc., generate NC program code.
3. Clamping workpiece and tool: firmly clamp the workpiece on the workbench, select the appropriate milling cutter installed in the milling head.
4. Processing operation: Input the program into the CNC milling machine controller, start the machine tool for processing, and the operator should pay attention to monitoring the processing status.
Process characteristics
- High machining accuracy, can achieve high dimensional accuracy and surface roughness requirements.
- Can process complex shape parts, such as aerospace parts, molds, etc.
- High degree of automation, higher production efficiency than traditional milling. However, the equipment cost is higher and requires professional personnel to operate and program.
